The other day I was watching a Golf Channel commercial where Tiger Woods was conducting a clinic. As part of the promo they played a quote from him where he said, “There is no one way to swing a golf club”. Boy did that start me thinking.
You know how differently one pro golfer may swing compared to another (Jim Furyk vs Tiger). Yet they both score well and are highly ranked in the World Golf Standings. How can that be?
There is a golfer at our course who I thought of immediately when Tiger made that comment. We took notice of him some time back as he was normally on the course about the same time we played. He has the most quirky swing I have ever seen. So quirky that our group would often make humorous comments about it.
This fellow would take the club back to waist high, then pause, turn back, then pause again, then up to the top and another ev Read the rest of this entry

Assessing one’s playing properties is the first step towards being adept at playing golf. Certain personal factors should be identified and if necessary, corrected. Golf is a game of relative precision. There’s a little room for error in golf.
Power is always an issue in golf. Everyone wants to have more power, more delivery on drives. Even Tiger Woods have been silently assessing his chances for more power with a new graphite golf club. Though golf clubs like woods do have properties suitable for longer drives, the shorter irons give the needed control that is somewhat difficult on a typical wood. The trade-off though is lesser power.
By building a stronger grip, you can still deliver powerful strokes with an iron. A weak gripping is often characterized by one or two knuckles shown on your left hand during the address. This grip kills an Read the rest of this entry

With the weather turning colder as winter sets in many of us will have limited golfing opportunities. In the coldest climates courses close and as for the rest of the country, well you have to be especially dedicated to play in the cold conditions. Just because we can’t get to the course or the range doesn’t mean we have to forget about golf or our efforts to improve our game. We should take this time to work on improving our swing, putting stroke and our bodies.
The most overlooked item from the list above is our bodies. The more physically fit we are the better it is for our golf game. Strength, stamina, flexibility and mental toughness are all important benefits gained from becoming more physically fit. Now no one said this was the most fun aspect of golf or that we needed to go to Tiger like extremes. Applying yourself to a routine of golf oriented stretches will yield a Read the rest of this entry

Golf is the one game that bridges perfectly the gap between the corporate world and the sports world. Loved by both the business and sports community alike, this great game has really become quite popular. If you desire for whatever reason , business or sports, to learn how to play golf , you must first learn the basics and perfect them.
Learning the basics is very important in golf. It’s like building, if you don’t get the foundation right, it doesn’t matter how beautiful or high the building is, it will eventually come down. Getting the basics right and perfecting it, in my opinion is what makes great golfers like Tiger Woods who they are. Tiger started playing golf at a very young age, he learnt and perfected the basics and today he is reaping the benefits.
Learning and perfecting the basics helps you to really know the game and be a great player. The secret of suc Read the rest of this entry
